In recent years the course has undergone a period of extensive redevelopment in order to create a challenging but fair test of golf for players of all abilities. Under the guidance of Course Manager Mike O’Keeffe and his team, the course is now maturing nicely, and feedback from both members and visitors has been extremely positive, especially with regards to the turn around of the course condition.
While not extensively long, the course plays far from easy. Course management and position off the tee is often more important than distance, with links style wispy rough waiting for that wayward shot. Water comes into play on a number of holes and the tricky prevailing wind makes club selection vital. This is particularly true on the 15th Par 3 as anything short will come to a watery grave.
For those who haven’t visited Mersey Valley for a while it is time to come back and see the improvement. Recent developments have included the addition of several new fairway and greenside bunkers and new tee’s from holes 5 through to 8 and then 12 through to the 17th.
